A Note Before You Start
I was surprised to learn that there are many versions of this iconic drink although the proprietor of Swizzle Inn, the oldest pub on the island, does claim to be the original creator. Originally made with a swizzle stick/long stem spoon, the maker vigorously rolls the stick between the palms of his/her hands which if done correctly, creates a frothy top layer. The recipe below is Izzy’s version.
Ingredients
½ oz of Goslings Black Rum
½ oz of Goslings Gold Rum
½ oz of Triple Sec
½ oz of Apricot Brandy
½ oz of Banana Liqueur
1 oz of Orange Juice
1 oz of Pineapple Juice
¼ oz of Grenadine
2 dashes of Bitters
Preparation
Step 1: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add all of the ingredients & the top and shake for 15-30 seconds.
Step 2: Fill a rocks glass with ice and strain the contents of the cocktail shaker into the rocks glass.
Step 3: Garnish with an orange slice and a raspberry or cherry.
