DIY Citronella Mason Jars

What you'll need:

Mason jars - I got mine at Michaels

Organza gift bags - Amazon

Bottle of 100% Essential Citronella Oil - Whole Foods

A fresh lemon, lime, and clementine

Sprigs of fresh rosemary, mint, thyme, spearmint

Fresh Lavender stems or dried if you can't find fresh as was the case for me.

Marigold flowers

Water

Floating candles - Michaels - Make sure they'll fit inside the mason jars.

Add 15-20 drops of the citronella oil to each jar. Then add sprigs of each of the fresh herbs. Thinly slice the lemon, lime and clementine and add slices of each to the jars. Cut the flower buds off the stems and put several into each jar. Fill the jars with water allowing enough space for the candle to float on top. If it's a breezy day/evening you want to make sure that once the candle is lit that the flame is just below the rim so the wind doesn't continue to blow out your candle; yes, I learned this the hard way. You can control this with the water level.

You can easily customize the contents of the mason jars with your favorite herbs and flowers. Experiment and have fun with it!
